A new Sketchbook for 2012!

This is the cover to a new full color sketchbook that I will be coming out with in the later part of the year! Still planning on how I will be putting this book together, so the page count is still up in the air. This will showcase all of my sketches and drawings, including fan art of all female characters over the years spanning 2010 to 2012.

I will be self publishing the book, and doing a limited number release of books under the Obsidian Studios banner. This will also be revealed in the next few months as well. Pre-Orders for the book will be available once everything is set and ready to go to print. So keep watching and looking for details!

The Seven Project is on HIATUS!

Unfortunately, at the moment, the project that I have labored and put so much time into right now has to be put on the back burner right now. The graphic novel project I have talked so much about called The Seven is unfortunately going on a hiatus. A bit of creative differences as well as conflicting schedules and family have put this project on the halt for a while. I'm not about to call out anyone or point fingers as to who to blame, but I will say that I am a bit disappointed. 


I'm going to be taking a lot of the things that have been working on and shelving the project for a while until I can create a great team that has a cohesive drive and commitment to the projects that we are putting out. For right now, this was not the time, and honestly, if it's not going to be done right, then I am glad that we came to the crossroads right now, and stopped where it is now before going too far and having a bad time later. 


I want to take the time to apologize to all the folks waiting so long for this project, and the supporters through means of the comments and those faving the artwork. I really appreciate it, and know that when it is time to take on this project again, that you will be back on this bandwagon supporting the Seven once again. 




So now that the bad news is out of the way, I want to focus on some good news, and some things that I have been thinking about and brewing over the last few days. I am going to continue Obsidian Studios, and this time work on a way to build an income to create a fully functioning studio that will have what we need in both equipment and funding to keep going. I will be doing this by both taking commissions and selling artwork on eBay and my orignal art site: idwalkerartsales.blogspot.com. 100% of this funding will go toward the progression of Obsidian Studios, and future appearances at conventions. 


Another thing that I am going to do is continue the honing of my personal drawing skills as I have been inspired again, and found an artist that I truly admire, and hope to learn from and expand my skills. I hope to showcase those skills through both the Obsidian Studios blog, as well as my personal idwalkerart.blogspot.com page. I will be throwing up some You Tube videos as well to show what I have been doing. I will be also taking the time to work on and strengthen my skills as a writer and be better at that so that I can put on another hat if need be. I have always wanted to be versatile, and the only way of doing so, is by learning other skills! 


I made a promise to myself and the rest of my fans that I would put a project out THIS YEAR! Just because the Seven may not be happening right now, doesn't mean that I will not still keep that promise. So with that said, 3 projects will be done this year...


1. A new 2011 sketchbook that showcases my original sketches from the previous year.


2. An artbook showing all my digital artwork pieces and original artwork that I have done beginning last year, and some this year.


3. I will be returning to doing the Black Dame comic book. This book was put on the back burner because the Seven was put first and I lost the steam to do it. I will be taking my time with it, and doing it right. I hope to be able to work with my sister :iconJujika: aka Stacy on this project, and I think it will be amazing. I am going to do a full graphic novel for this as well, and releasing the pages on a weekly basis on the Black Dame page. theblackdamecomic.blogspot.com. I'm going to be redoing some pages, and creating a very nicer, and cleaner book for you all. So I hope that those of you that fell in love with the idea of The Black Dame and the comic will be on board for this one. More on this soon to come...




If you have read my journal this far, I thank you, and know that I appreciate you. A few weeks back, someone here on DA left a message on my page saying that the name of my studio, Obsidian Studios brought chills. And because of that, he knew that we were serious and that we are going places. I'm here to tell you from experience, that a name means absolutely NOTHING is there is no action behind it, and nothing to give people to look forward to. I'm going to put my focus and time and energy into this project and give you all a reason to be fans of Obsidian Studios. I'm hoping that the full completion of the Black Dame will inspire people to continue to work with me and be committed to a serious endeavor and help me do everything to tell more of my stories. Because honestly, that's all I want to do. I just want to tell and share my stories.
